Sleepy Kitten

Mature cats sleep about 16 hours a day. Some cats can sleep as much as 20 hours. It's one of their favorite activities. Kittens need more sleep but are usually much more active than a mature cat when awake, and so will need more frequent "cat naps". When younger, they may go straight to sleep after a meal, but as they get older kittens need plenty of play to get them tired. Growth hormones are only released during sleep, so as tempting as it may be to cuddle a sleeping kitten, it's best to let them be.

Cats are more active at dusk and dawn. The dusk period has been called the "evening crazies". It is possible, however, to influence your cat's sleeping times by providing lots of stimulation during the day when they would naturally sleep and tiring him/her out before bedtime.

This sleepy kitten just can't stop drifting off...
