Funny Kitten Gives a Massage

Cats are well known for kneading with their paws when they are content. It is often done when the cat is relaxing and they purr at the same time. Kneading goes by many names - "making bread", "making biscuits", "poking" and "pressy paws".

There are various theories about the origins of this behavior. It may have been adaptive when theier wild ancestors had to tread down grass to make a bed. Another possibility is that this behavior is necessary during kitten-hood to stimulate the mother's milk flow. Newborn kittens certainly do it a lot while feeding or trying to feed.

This is a hilariously funny kitten massaging another member of the litter...
